Saltwater Fishing Tackle
The fish in the ocean differ fromthe fish in a lake or stream. That probably sounds strange to some, but amazes me the number of people that want to avoid the cost of saltwater fishing gear but still want to fish in that venue. If you just want to try the sport, then borrow the right fishing reel or else rent the right gear.
Today fishing is not just about skill, it also means having and knowing how to use the proper equipment. Though many of the skills are the same the difference in equipment means you may need to do some practice especially if you're a freshwater person who is going after tuna, swordfish, mackerel or even flounder.
You need to start with the basics in tackle, so you will want a good rod. You want one in the middle price range, not the most expensive and not dirt cheap. This will set you back from $100 -200+. The least expensive rod is a mistake from the get go.because you will probably pick up some bad habits and no one will want it for resale when you're ready to move up the next level of fishing reel and rod.
Next invest in a good saltwater fishing reel. The salt water is corrosive and eats at metal. If you pay the price for a fishing reel that resists saltwater corrosion. If I may make a suggestion, go with graphite or aluminum.
Baitcasting and spinning reels are the two broad categories of saltwater fishing reels. Baitcasting is normally used when fishing for larger, heavier fish, but they require more skill to use effectively. Spinning reels have a stationary spool making them easier to use. Choose the proper line to fit your reel and the type of fishing you intend to do. If you are just getting started with saltwater fishing then consider a combo, since the manufacturer would mount the right fishing reel with the right rod.
It's a matter of personal choice whether you buy or make your own fly. Whatever your choice use high quality fly as fish aren't stupid. Poor quality flys will not attract any fish.
